Instagram is great, but it’s not where decisions happen
Instagram is perfect for getting noticed. People see your food, your work, your vans, your latest job. They might even follow you.
But when someone is actually thinking, “Should I contact this business?”, they want answers quickly. That’s where Instagram starts to feel messy.
Your posts aren’t organised. Your key information is spread across highlights, captions, old posts, and DMs. If the person has to work hard to figure you out, they usually just leave.
What people do before they message you
Most customers don’t message straight away. They do a quick “trust check”.
They look for things like: where you’re located, what exactly you offer, what it costs (at least roughly), and whether you look reliable. If they can’t find that easily, they feel unsure. And when people feel unsure, they don’t ask. They move on.
You don’t see it happening, but it happens every day.
The hidden cost of no website
This shows up in a few ways:
- You get more low-quality messages like “price?” and “available?” because people don’t understand your service.
- You spend time replying to the same basic questions again and again.
- Serious customers choose someone else because they want clarity and confidence.
This hits cafés, restaurants, logistics, and service businesses especially hard because customers often need quick confirmation before committing.
A website doesn’t replace Instagram, it supports it
Think of Instagram as the place people discover you. Your website is the place they confirm you.
A simple website gives people one clean page to understand your business and take the next step. Then when they WhatsApp you, they already know what you do, what you offer, and what they want.
That’s the difference between “just browsing” and “ready to buy”.
